Business in the Community Ireland is delighted to announce that Coláiste Chiaráin are engaging in a new mentoring programme with Northern Trust.

Ten employees from Northern Trust are about to embark on a new initiative as they become mentors to ten sixth year students from Coláiste Chiaráin Croom as part of the Student Mentoring Programme.   This programme has been facilitated by the Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI).

Mentoring sessions will be held virtually using remote online platforms for 45 minutes, once every 3 weeks. The mentoring sessions will provide a sounding board for career ideas and future career paths together with supporting personal development activities such as interview preparation, mock interviews, etc.

“NT are looking forward to working with the school and providing mentoring to the students at this critical year in their lives, especially this year. Northern Trust is continuing to support the community in Limerick and using new virtual opportunities to connect with groups to provide valuable assistance, at a time when help is needed more than ever, to reduce educational disadvantage and help build an inclusive society.” said Northern Trust Mentoring Programme coordinators Claire O’Flynn and Ronan Hanrahan.

“At a time of the year when we are thinking about gifts for others, we know that giving the gift of time stands above most others. Northern Trust employees are doing just that. The Principal, Mr. O’Sullivan, 6th Year Year Head, Ms. Finucane and School Completion Programme coordinator, Mr. Kelly of Coláiste Chiaráin are encouraging and supporting the students to create the space to pause and consider their futures, with the extra guidance of the Northern Trust employees for 10 students. I have already met the student group who are really looking forward to meeting their mentors. BITC Ireland is delighted to be able to facilitate such a programme for the company and the school and will provide support throughout. We welcome the opportunity to work with other companies in the region to improve educational inclusion through employee engagement activities.” said Dr. Eleanor Walsh, Mid-west regional coordinator for BITC Ireland.

Principal, Mr. Gerard O’Sullivan commented that he was delighted with this new partnership and excited about the opportunities it will present for both organisations and especially for the students who will partake in and benefit from this programme in the years ahead.
