Sean O’Sullivan and Taha Nije had huge success in the BT Young Scientist competition this year. Their idea was simple; How effective are our school’s cleaning protocols?

They investigated where students were typically touching, where the students were cleaning,  what their teachers’ opinions on their cleaning effectiveness were and drew conclusions from all of these data points. With over ten spreadsheets worth of data, they brought their conclusions to the competition and their hard work paid off!

The boys were awarded 2 awards : the Irish Research Council Award and First Place in the Junior Chemical, Physical and Mathematical Sciences category.
