Washington
Saturday Nov 25th
Today was our first day in Washington D.C. We left Springford around 9am and arrived in Washington D.C around noon. The bus driver gave us a quick tour of the monuments and memorials when we arrived. He drove us around the National Mall where we got to see the Reflection pool, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial and the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial. After this we dropped our bags off in the hotel and went back to the Smithsonian Castle where we all split off into smaller groups to explore different museums. My group went to the Hirshhorn Modern Art Museum and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Other groups went to the Spy Museum, The National History Museum and the National Air and Space Museum. We met back at the hotel around 5pm where we got to rest for a bit. We finished off the day with a walking ghost tour of Washington D.C at 8pm where we got to hear about ghosts who haunt places such as the White House or Lafayette square. Although none of us found it very scary it was good fun and we got to see Washington D.C in the dark with all the memorials and buildings lit up.
